¶ USB Drive Mode

Update Time: 2026-07-11 08:01:41

PocketCloud supports switching to USB Drive Mode; when connected via data cable to devices like computers, mobile phones, or TVs through its Type-C port, PocketCloud is recognized as external storage (similar to a USB flash drive / portable hard drive). You can access, copy, paste, and manage files directly through the file manager without needing an extra client or network connection.

We recommend using the official standard cable or an officially recommended USB cable:

  1. Type-C to Type-C: Suitable for mobile phones, tablets, laptops, etc.;
  2. Type-C to Type-A: Suitable for desktop PCs, etc.

Note: iPhone requires iPhone 15 or later models to access USB Drive Mode.

¶ Enable USB Drive Mode

USB Drive Mode is disabled by default at factory. Enable it via the client:

  1. Open the client, go to the Devices page, and find the USB Drive Mode option;
  2. Toggle Enable USB Drive Mode ON;

¶ Settings

¶ Connection Validity

Choose how long USB Drive Mode stays active:

  • Persistent: USB Drive Mode remains enabled until you manually disable it;
  • One-Time Valid: USB Drive Mode automatically disables after disconnecting.

¶ Cooling Fan

Select the fan speed level while in USB Drive Mode:

  • Standard
  • Slient
  • Off

The cooling fan option is only available when the device is running. It cannot be adjusted when powered off.

¶ Switch to USB Drive Mode

After enabling USB Drive Mode, use either of the following methods:

¶ Method 1 (While Running)

  1. Connect PocketCloud's Type-C port to your mobile phone or PC using a compatible cable;
  2. Turn the knob until the small screen displays [USB Drive Mode], then press the knob;

  1. Confirm the focus is on [Switch], then press the knob to enter USB Drive Mode.

¶ Method 2 (Powered Off)

  1. Power off PocketCloud;
  2. Connect PocketCloud's Type-C port to your mobile phone or PC using a compatible cable;
  3. After connection, PocketCloud's small screen will display [USB Drive Mode] — this indicates it has entered USB Drive Mode.

¶ USB Drive Mode

PA100 Pro supports switching to USB Drive Mode; when connected to computers or mobile phones via Type-C cable, it's recognized as external storage, allowing you to access disk data directly through the file manager.

We recommend using the official standard cable or an officially recommended USB cable:

  1. Type-C to Type-C: Suitable for mobile phones, tablets, laptops, etc.;
  2. Type-C to Type-A: Suitable for desktop PCs, etc.

¶ Enable USB Drive Mode

USB Drive Mode is disabled by default at factory. Enable it via the client:

  1. Open the client, go to the Devices page, and find the USB Drive Mode option;
  2. Toggle Enable USB Drive Mode ON;

¶ Settings

¶ Connection Validity

Choose how long the USB Drive Mode stays active:

  • Long-term Valid: USB Drive Mode remains enabled until you manually disable it;
  • Single-time Valid: USB Drive Mode automatically disables after disconnecting.

¶ Transfer Protocol

  • MTP (Media Transfer Protocol): Recommended for most scenarios. Supports simultaneous access from both the device and the computer. Compatible with Android and Windows (no extra software needed). macOS requires a third-party app (e.g. OpenMTP). Not supported on iOS.
  • UMS / Virtual Disk (USB Mass Storage): The device appears as a virtual disk drive on the computer. Compatible with Windows, macOS, and iOS (accessible via the Files app). Note: when UMS mode is active, the device itself cannot access the storage simultaneously.

¶ Use USB Drive Mode

  1. Enable USB Drive Mode in the client as described above;
  2. Connect PA100 Pro's Type-C port to your computer or mobile phone using a compatible cable;
  3. The device will be recognized as external storage — open your file manager to access and transfer files.

Note:

  • For macOS, install a third-party MTP client (e.g. OpenMTP (opens new window)) to access MTP mode.
  • Ensure the device has sufficient battery power when using USB Drive Mode.
